Hello my name is Netta, and I have been working at Park Street from the beginning, approximately 15 years ago.
I began working with people at a Youth Club many years ago now, and soon after I became involved with Elgin Park, a club which focused on helping people with special needs. Once I had spent time at Elgin Park, I proposed that people with special needs should be integrated into a normal youth club environment. As this was a huge success, I chose to work with people with special needs on a regular basis.
"I feel it is important to help people in their own right, and to integrate them into the community."
It is important to enjoy yourself when you are involved with a club, but we have made important changes here at Park Street - creating a focused atmosphere for students needs as well as maintaining the vital social aspects of the club.
Here at Park Street, we still have goals and things we wish to achieve here. I would like to be able to have more contact with carers, and be more involved with the wider services that are involved with the club members.
In the near future, we hope to hold another "Talent Show" which before has been hugely successful. On this occassion, the members will be able to show whatever talent they feel comfortable with.
All in all, here at Park Street we look to promote responsibility, hoping this will give the pupils the opportunity to choose for themselves. |

Hi, My name is John. I have been working here at Park Street for 10-11 years! I go to Park Street because I hope I can make a difference for people who are less fortunate than myself. At Park Street I help organise the Christmas night out, along with tutoring the members. I also help by giving one of the students a lift to Park Street which enables them to come here and learn new skills.
My favourite hobby is football, and I have been the physio for The Camelon Juniors football team for 9 years, after this season I will have been working there for 10. |

I joined the PEN Group in February 2008 as a tutor.
One of the first things I learnt was the importance of being flexible, what works with one person does not always work with others. Some of the members prefer to work one to one with a tutor but they are all encouraged to work within a group.
The group work hard for four weeks then decide what they want to do on the sixth week when they enjoy a fun night. The fun nights have been very different, we have had a games night, a halloween party and in June 2009 we held a 'PEN Group has talent Night'.
It is not only the group members that take part in the fun the tutors are expected to join in too.
Being part of the PEN Group keeps my mind active and I learn something every time I go to the group. I have also achieved things I never thought possible for instance singing (if you can call it that) at the talent night, in front of the rest of the group and lots of visitors.
An important rule is don't ask the members to do anything you wouldn't do yourself. why you may ask, because you wouldn't get away with it.
